Dinner Dance Auction Anniversary Benefit – REMINDERS

Have you purchased your $5,000 Tuition Credit Raffle ticket for the 2015-16 school year?   Don’t delay!  Each ticket costs just $100, and only 150 tickets are available.  Tickets will not be sold the night of the Benefit (March 14, 2015).   Send cash or check (payable to ASCA) to the school office, or buy online at ascadda.org.  This could be a great gift idea for grandparents.

Work off your Family Fundraising Obligation by donating an interesting item, unique experience or cash to the Benefit. Cash will be used to supplement auction and raffle items as needed. You will receive a credit to your Family Fundraising Obligation for any cash donation up to $200 or the amount your donated item sells for at the Benefit up to $500.  Remember, “A good auction item is one that two or more people want to fight over!” Deadline for DDA cash donations is January 9, 2015.  Deadline for DDA auction item donations is January 30, 2015.

Smile! Camera! Auction! Showcase your child, favorite team, scouts troop, or class through a photo ad in the Dinner Dance Auction catalog.  For only $50, Saintly Spots in the catalog are a wonderful way to celebrate your son’s or daughter’s Sports Team, First Communion, Graduation, or any occasion.  Multiple families may participate in a Saintly Spot together. You can make your child feel like a star by having their photo in print!  Saintly Spot submissions are due by January 30, 2015.

It pays to advertise!  If you or your family has a business that could benefit from the visibility and positive image available through advertising in, or sponsorship of the Dinner Dance Auction, we have opportunities at a number of price points that offer visibility in the catalog and on our website leading up to the event, signage at the event, and more!

Ideas for attractive auction items appear in the “How You Can Get Involved” information sheet on the DDA website at http://www.ascadda.org/  or on the DDA Facebook page.  Also available on the website are Auction Donation Forms, Advertising Forms and Sponsorship Forms and Saintly Spot Forms.  If you have questions on any of these opportunities, please e-mail or call Tim Traynor in the School Office (ttraynor@ascacademy.org).

Have a wonderful break! We’ll be back to you with more exciting Anniversary Benefit information in the New Year!

Martin Luther King Day…A Day of Service - 1/19/2015

All Saints Catholic Academy has built a tradition of service. As in previous years, we are going to ask that you serve within our community on Martin Luther King Day. We will not come to school on Monday, January 19th, but rather our attendance will be out in the community serving others.  It is our hope that you will make a decision to serve others on this holiday as a family. For working parents, no worries, we have alternative options on the weekend before MLK Day.

You may choose to offer time at Feed My Starving Children or sort crayons and buttons at SCARCE. You may spend time making candy grams for Little Friends clients or you may choose to go to your neighbor’s house and shovel their driveway. The point is to help others…and no, cleaning your room for your mom doesn’t count!  Here is the link to the arranged service opportunities - MLK Day Sign-Up.  For more information, see the MLK Day Overview Sheet.  Once you have completed your service, please complete and turn in the MLK Service Project Form

God and Sinners Reconciled

Fiction and Poetry on the Theme of Atonement will meet on Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm in the Senior Center from January 20th through February 24th.  Advance registration is requested.  Please call Marge Coronado at 630.355.8980 x118, or email mcoronado@stapostle.org by January 15.  A free will offering will be accepted. “God and Sinners Reconciled” is more than a line from a Christmas carol.  It’s a declaration that prompts the question, “How does such a union come to be?”

Literary works of fiction and poetry, both classical and modern, have engaged the spiritual ground found in the experience of atonement.  From the poetry of Shakespeare and William Blake to modern fiction by Bernice Rubens, François Mauriac, and Ian McEwan, we are captivated by images of the conflicted need to forgive and to be forgiven.  Readings will be completed in advance of our meetings, and each weekly session will consist of a minimum of background lecture and a maximum of discussion.  Join us for a thought-provoking experience in deepening your faith.  The presenter, Michael Casey earned his B.A. and M.A. in English at Loyola University of Los Angeles, Ca.  He has taught literature courses at the secondary, college and adult education levels for over 40 years.

Zip Zap Zop

Samaritan Interfaith will be offering a social skills relating class for grades 2-4 and 5-8 from January 20 through March 10.  Registrations are currently being accepted.  The Zip Zap Zop information form can be found at the school website.
