Principal's Newsletter - February 25, 2015

To be others-centered is a challenge, but it can be a way of life. It starts simply with just thinking of others and ends up defining you.

Fr. Bill visiting Classes

One of the gifts that All Saints Catholic Academy has been given over the years is that Fr. Bill O’Shea, one of our founding Pastors.  For ten years, Father has been visiting our school monthly and speaking to all of the classes as often as possible.  Now in his retirement he lives in the city.  His MS has made it unsafe and uncomfortable to rely on the train from Chicago to Naperville as he has done for many years. So……we are looking for folks who might be able to drive him home to the city after his ASCA visits - typically on a Wednesday leaving ASCA about noon.   Can you help on occasion?  If so, please email me at srenehan@ascacademy.org.  Thanks in advance.

Box Tops for Education & Campbell's Labels for Education Program

Please send in your Box Tops and Campbell Labels for Education this week. We have a collection deadline coming up and we would like to get as many in for the school as possible. There are collection boxes in the classrooms. Thank you for supporting ASCA!

DINNER DANCE AUCTION ANNIVERSARY BENEFIT - Responses are Due!

It’s about fun! It’s about friendship! It’s about camaraderie! It’s about making a difference for our children! One of the greatest opportunities of the year to come together as a school community and enjoy and appreciate each other is close at hand. In less than 3 weeks, on March 14, 2015, we will be able to celebrate what All Saints means to us at our Anniversary Benefit!

Please join the celebration!  Responses are due this week! Kindly submit the response card that was included with your invitation or register online at ascadda.org by Thursday, February 26, 2015. Gather friends for a table of 10 or ask to be seated at a grade specific table and meet new friends! We really want you to be involved!

We have a great evening planned starting with a new venue, Bolingbrook Golf Club. Bishop Siegel, Bishop Imesch and Fr. Bill will all be in attendance. A delicious menu, open bar, new and interesting auction items, a 10-year commemorative video, and entertainment by Chicago Dueling Pianos will add to the fun!

The winner of a $5,000 Tuition Credit for the 2015-2016 school year will be drawn the night of the Anniversary Benefit.  Have you purchased your raffle ticket yet?  If not, the time is now!  Tickets are only $100 and odds are favorable, as only 150 tickets will be sold.  Tickets must be purchased by March 12, 2015 and will not be sold the night of the Benefit. To buy your ticket:

  • Send check (payable to ASCA) or cash to the school office; or

  • Buy online at ascadda.org.

Please submit your response cards and catch the spirit of the 10th Anniversary Dinner Dance Auction!

If you have questions about the Anniversary Benefit, please e-mail Michelle Yacullo at yacullo@sbcglobal.net or Tim Traynor in the School Office at ttraynor@ascacademy.org.

ASCA Lenten Service Project – Hogar del Pobre

All throughout Lent, All Saints students and their families will support the Hogar del Pobre orphanage in Celaya, Mexico with prayer and a clothing collection.  For most of the children at the orphanage, the clothing that they receive from All Saints students will be the only new outfit that they receive all year long.  In past years, All Saints families have generously been able to contribute over 700 pieces of clothing during the forty days of Lent, which is our current goal (many of our classrooms have set a class collection goal).  The Lenten Service Project flyer was sent home with all oldest and only students last week.  Thank you in advance for your generous contributions.

Please note that the orphanage is located in an area of Mexico where it gets very cold at night without heat.  Warm clothing is their greatest need.  Shoes, jackets, pajamas, socks and underwear are needed too.  Even though we have assigned each grade level a size, you are welcome to bring in any size.

In this project, we continue to encourage our students to become ‘others centered’, learning and experiencing how it is to be Christ's loving hands and hearts when doing small things with great love!

ASCA Spring Picture Day

Spring Picture Day is scheduled for Monday, March 9th for all preschool through Grade 8 students.  Preschool 3 year olds are invited to come to ASCA to be photographed on March 9.  All students will be out of uniform and photographed by Lifetouch.  A Picture Day Pose Selection Form will be sent home with all students next week.
