This is Catholic Schools Week…...a time to reflect on and celebrate who we are. Each time you come into school, you are greeted with the six belief statements we are founded on:
God is the beginning and end of all human existence
This is the very core of our faith. Why a student engages in learning is fundamentally more valuable and provides the proper foundation for learning than what it is that the students learn.
Education is essentially a moral endeavor
Absent a moral framework, education is reduced to instruction and becomes a functional, rote process rather than a substantive, deliberative sharing of the wisdom and heritage of faith and civilization.
Parents are the primary educators of their children
Parents are morally obligated to and determine just when, where, and how educators will become involved in the education of their children. We are so happy you have chosen to share your child with us.
The subject of education is the student
It never really is about the content. It is about the child.
Teaching is an intimate communication between souls.
It is the teacher who molds the student’s intellect and will. They create, in the words of Pius XII, “a being of human and Christian perfection”. This is a relationship to be treasured.
Our diversity is the cornerstone of our community
As the body of Christ, we are the sum of our parts. Everyone is important to who we are as a community. We are grateful for each and every one of us.

Grade Level Basket Raffle: Raffle tickets will be on sale tomorrow, Wednesday Feb. 3rd, after school in McSherry Hall. Please stop by to purchase tickets and take a look at the wonderful baskets. The tickets are 1 for $10 or 5 for $40. Cash and checks are accepted. Please check out the website: ascadda.org for photos and descriptions of the Grade Level Baskets. Congratulations to all these fabulous writers. We also found out that our four winners from the Benet Scholastic Bowl have been invited to compete at the regional level. That team is Carolyn Hughes, Christine Budd, Sophia Kash, and Rahee Manek. We have lots to be proud of here!
The Class of 2016 invites you to its first “Legacy Market Place” event
Legacy Market Place will be selling handmade and seasonal items once a month thru the end of the 2016 school year in support of the Class of 2016 Legacy Gift project. Our goal is to raise funds to provide livestock animals to impoverished peoples to help stop poverty and hunger in 3rd world countries.
On Friday, February 5, remember to bring money and join us from 3:30-4:15 pm. On this afternoon, you will be able to purchase Valentine’s plush toys and other Valentine items for your friends, family and loved ones! There will be a limited selection of Valentine’s cards handmade by the Class of 2016 available as well. All items will be $1, $2 or $3 per item. Stop buy and purchase a valentine for someone you love! CASH ONLY– NO CHECKS.
We also have an opportunity for all you ASCA basketball fans! “Legacy Marketplace” will be open at the home basketball games selling fun spirit items on Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7. Show your team spirit and support the Class of 2016 Legacy project! Go Saints!

FACTS Financial Aid Application – Deadline to File is March 1, 2016
The FACTS financial aid application at FACTS Tuition Grant and Aid is used for ALL financial and scholarship assistance, which includes Catholic Education Foundation Diocesan scholarships at the grade school and high school levels, parish assistance, school and foundation awards.
All families who have received any type of assistance in the past, and who wish to apply for assistance for the 2016-2017 school year MUST complete this application and submit all required paperwork by the March 1 deadline.

Open House Thank You
A big thank you to all of the parents and students who participated in the Catholic Schools Week mass celebrations at our sponsoring and supporting parishes, as well as our Open House this past Sunday afternoon. We had many new families come to visit us who were very impressed with our wonderful school and all of our amazing students and parents that they met.
Re-Enrollment for the 2016-2017 School Year
2016-2017 re-enrollment form were due this past Monday. If you have not turned yours in yet, please return it to the school ASAP. If you will not be returning to ASCA this coming fall, we would appreciate your letting us know that information as well as it is important in our planning as we go forward; and we do not want to continue to bother those families who will not continue on at All Saints.
For those families who are returning, we will be billing your FACTS accounts for the re-enrollment fee. Please contact Patty Bajek with any questions about re-enrollment.
Preschool at All Saints Catholic Academy
Did you know that All Saints has a preschool program for 3 and 4 year olds? If you have a child that will be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1, 2016, please consider the All Saints Catholic Academy preschool program. ASCA Preschoolers Stewardship Project
ASCA Preschoolers are once again doing a Stewardship project. They are helping an animal shelter, as well as a local vet. If you would like to encourage their efforts, it would be greatly appreciated. We are collecting the following items from now until the end of the school year:

Save and bring old newspapers (no magazines, flyers or ads).They will be used in cages.

Save and bring wine corks (they must be cork, not rubber).They will be used by bunnies to gnaw.

Donate any kinds of unopened animal food or treats

Clean blankets
Any donations can be brought to Room 103 or 105. Thank you in advance for your help and you support. Our three and four year old preschoolers thank you, as well!
Mother-Son Event 2016
Please join us for the 4th annual ASCA Mother-Son Date Night with the Chicago Wolves on Saturday, March 12, 2016. The Wolves are playing the Milwaukee Rampage at the Allstate Arena. Tickets are only $20 per person and include an ASCA/Wolves customized T-shirt, a Wolves winter knit hat, free admittance to the pre-game fun fest in the Skyline room (located across the street from the arena), and a special ASCA seating section on the lower level. SAINTS HOOPS IN THE NEWS…...There was a lot of action on the courts this past weekend as the Saints heated up the courts. Congratulations to the following teams who notched wins: Boys 6A, 6B1, 7B; Girls 5A, 6B2 & 7A. Way to go Saints!

En ausencia de un marco moral, la educación se reduce a la instrucción y se convierte en un lugar de aprendizaje mecánico, en lugar de ser un espacio de aprendizaje profundo. Un espacio para compartir sabiduría, el patrimonio de la fe y de la civilización.
Los padres son los principales educadores de sus hijos
Los padres están moralmente obligados a determinar; ¿Cómo?, ¿Cuándo? Y ¿Dónde? los educadores están determinados a involucrarse en la educación de sus hijos. Estamos felices de haber sido elegidos para compartir la educación de su hijo(a) con nosotros.
El tema en la educación es el estudiante
En realidad nunca se trata del contenido. Siempre se trata de su hijo(a).
La enseñanza es la comunicación íntima entre las almas.
Es el profesor quien moldea el intelecto y los deseos de aprender del estudiante. Crean, en palabras de Pío XII " un ser de perfección humana y cristiana". Esta es una relación que necesita ser atesorada.

La solicitud de ayuda financiera de la beca FACTS para el pago de la matrícula escolar se utiliza para toda la asistencia financiera y becas. La reinscripción para el año 2016-2017 se cumplió este pasado lunes. Si usted no la ha enviado, por favor hágalo a la brevedad posible. Si su hijo no va a venir a esta escuela durante el siguiente año escolar apreciamos que nos deje saber. Ya que esta información es importante para nuestra planeación del siguiente año escolar. No queremos seguir molestando a aquellos padres que han decidido que sus hijos no regresaran a nuestra escuela, por tal motivo por favor déjenos saber. ¡GRACIAS!

ASCA Proyecto Administrativo Pre-escolares.
ASCA Pre-escolares están una vez más apoyando un proyecto administrativo. Ellos están ayudando a un refugio de animales, así como a un veterinario local. Si a usted le gustaría apoyar este esfuerzo, esto sería gratamente apreciado. Estamos recolectando los siguientes artículos a partir de ahora y hasta el final del año escolar:
Periódicos viejos (no revistas, folletos o anuncios). Estos serán utilizados en jaulas.
Guarde y traiga corchos de las botellas de vino (debe de ser corcho, no de plástico). Estos serán utilizados por los conejitos para roerlos.
Donar cualquier tipo comida o golosinas para animales sin abrir.
Cobijas limpias

Evento Madre-Hijo, 2016
Por favor únase a nosotros para el cuarto evento anual Madre-Hijo en ASCA. Una noche con los Lobos de Chicago el sábado 12 de marzo de 2016. Los Lobos están jugando en el Milwaukee Rampage en el Allstate Arena.
