Principal's Newsletter - January 14, 2015

I had the little grandkids this past weekend.   This is the crew with 4 children aged 4, 3, 3, & 1 ½ years old.  Since it was an indoor weekend because of weather (and the fact that I don’t have the energy to monitor four little ones on the run in the park!), we had different activities throughout the 48 hours, lots of which they got to decide.  Since the three older ones are all in a 5-day preschool, the “pretend of choice” was “school”. We had calendar time, circle time, author’s corner, a class party, an assembly for thanksgiving, a fire drill, show and tell, story time and snack time. What was so fascinating is that they were perfect mimics of their teachers.  They knew how the three teachers were different, what rules were nonnegotiable for all three teachers, and they clearly loved every minute of their time at school. So for our teachers, I remind you that you are probably often quoted at home.  For you parents you, are often quoted here at school too.  For our youngest ones, every move, every word, and every gesture that we share with them is absorbed and helps define the person that they will become.  We only get one chance at this, so we need to cherish these moments and use them well!  It is a privilege that God gives us.

Please see the MLK Day Sign Ups on Sign Up Genius for current service opportunities.

Market Day, Wednesday, January 21st

Our next Market Day will be held on Wednesday, January 21st, with product pick-up from 2:30 - 3:30 in the gym (enter through Door 9).    As a reminder, at least 10% of your pre-tax order will be credited to your annual Family Fundraising Commitment. Please note that Market Day and GFS purchases at local GFS stores are not a practical option for Family Fundraising purposes.   You are encouraged to place your order at http://www.marketday.com and pay by credit card. Please note that the deadline for internet orders has been moved one day earlier, for this and future Market Days.  This month's deadline is Friday, January 16th at 11:00 pm.  All Saints Catholic Academy's school code is 27119.

Also please note that if you plan to pay for your order by check rather than with a credit card, you must pick up your order at the above scheduled time.  Late pick-ups will be allowed only for orders paid by credit card.   Volunteers are needed to help sort and stack the food. Please contact Tracy Coleman at tracytroy@aol.com if you are able to help.

DINNER DANCE AUCTION ANNIVERSARY BENEFIT

January is a vitally important month for the Dinner Dance Auction as we work to finalize our auction item line-up and identify sponsors and advertisers.

Your participation is urgently needed – and deeply appreciated – for the success of our Anniversary Benefit!

To measure your involvement so far, Please take the following quiz:

1) Have I considered a donation of an interesting item, unique experience or cash to the Anniversary Benefit?  You will receive a credit to your 2014 – 2015 Family Fundraising Obligation up to $500 for the amount your donated item sells for at the Benefit, and up to $200 for any cash donation.  (Cash donations are used to supplement auction and raffle items as needed.)  Due to unexpected school closings last week, the deadline for cash donations has been extended to Monday, January 19, 2015.  The deadline for auction item donations is January 30, 2015.

2) Am I part of a business or do I know a business that could benefit from the visibility and positive image of advertising in, or sponsoring the Dinner Dance Auction? There are opportunities at a number of price points that offer visibility in the catalog, on our website and through signage at the event.  The deadline for advertising and sponsorship submissions is January 30, 2015.

3) Have I submitted an awesome picture of my child, my child’s team or my child’s troop for a Saintly Spot in the Auction catalog? This is a wonderful way to recognize achievement and to bring a smile to your child’s face to see their picture in print. The deadline for Saintly Spot submissions is January 30, 2015.

4) Have I purchased my Tuition Credit Raffle ticket?  The odds are favorable – only 150 tickets will be sold at $100 a piece for a possible winning of $5,000 tuition credit.

How did you score? The time is now to take action. With your help, we can achieve A+ results for the Anniversary Benefit!

Auction Donation Forms, Ideas for Auction Item Donations, Advertising and Sponsorship Forms, Saintly Spot Forms and instructions for purchasing Tuition Credit Raffle tickets are available on the DDA website at www.ascadda.org.  If you have questions on any of these opportunities, please e-mail Michelle Yacullo at Yacullo@sbcglobal.net or Tim Traynor in the School Office at ttraynor@ascacademy.org.

Family Fundraising Commitment Update

Today, students will bring home a letter providing the current update on the Family Fundraising Commitment for each family.  Please refer to the letter for your current status as well as for program procedures and requirements.

Please note that all fundraising must be paid in full by April 7, 2015.

Fundraising credit is still available to be earned through Market Day purchases for January and February, as well as by donating an auction item to the Dinner Dance Auction.  The sale price of the donated auction item will be credited toward your fundraising obligation.  Please note that all auction item donations must be made by January 30th.

SCRIP is also available as the last piece of the fundraising obligation.  We have not included your SCRIP earning in this statement, however, you can check your current balance at http://www.shopwithscrip.com/

Thank you for your cooperation and support.
