Principal's Newsletter - September 3, 2014

I have a friend who sends a daily meditation out.  As I came home from church on Saturday evening, this was waiting for me - "Having God speak to our hearts is what the Sabbath is for".  Ironically, I was thinking about Fr. Paul's homily at the time.  Fr. Paul spoke about  how we decide ourselves whether we will do good things or not.  Is it happenstance or accident..., or is it a conscious decision to make choices directed by God.

Each week, we ask our students to reflect with their families what the Gospel message and the homily that typically enriches our interpretation of the Gospel each weekend means to them. This is an important part of each student’s faith development to be reflective of the meaning of the Gospel. ...... the practice of letting God speak to our hearts.

Market Day, Wednesday, September 17th

Our first Market Day of the new school year will be held Wednesday September 17th, with product pick-up from 2:30 - 3:30 pm in the gym (enter through Door 9).  As a reminder, at least 10% of your pre-tax order will be credited to your annual Family Fundraising Commitment. This is the fourth Market Day which will be credited toward the 2014-2015 school year, with credits applied from March, 2014 through February, 2015.  You are encouraged to place your order at http://www.marketday.com/, and pay by credit card. The deadline for internet orders is Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 pm.  All Saints Catholic Academy's school code is 27119.  Please note that Market Day and GFS purchases at local GFS stores are not a practical option for Family Fundraising purposes, because the credit to All Saints reduces from 10% or 15% to just 5%, and the reports we receive from Market Day do not identify the family to be credited.

Volunteers are needed to help sort and stack the food. Please contact Tracy Coleman at tracytroy@aol.com if you are able to help.

OH SNAP! Saints-in Service

We're making it even easier this year to showcase your child's service in the community!  Instead of sending in a service form detailing what type of service your child has done, simply snap a photo of your child while they are serving. Then, email the photo to jazediker@comcast.net, and it will be displayed in a slide show throughout the halls of ASCA. So get your cameras snapping! We will be accepting photos all year long.

That Man Is You! at St. Elizabeth Seton

Year 3 of That Man Is You! begins this Saturday, September 6. This program takes place Saturday mornings, and tackles real issues facing real men.  It looks at the leadership role that has been entrusted to men, and addresses the temptations and struggles that men face in a culture that attacks authentic manhood.  Finally, it helps formulate a plan to help men overcome these obstacles.  If you have missed year 1 or 2, it doesn’t matter.  Many All Saints men take part in That Man Is You! from many different parishes.  All Are Welcome; please join us!!!!!!!  We start with a light breakfast at 6:30 am, followed by a video and small group discussion with a hard stop at 8 am.  You will see and make many friends; and find that you look forward to this special time just for you each week.  Please contact Doug Donovan at (630) 217-7449 with any questions.  St. Elizabeth Seton is located at 2220 Lisson Road, Naperville.
