Saints Speak - June 1, 2017

In the Good Old Summertime 

Tomorrow morning, we come together to celebrate mass together for the last time, and then at 9:30 am dismissal, we will say goodbye to the 2016-2017 school year and to each other.  However, there is still work to be done this summer.  Our office will be open Monday through Thursday mornings from 9 am to Noon in June and July (offices will be closed on July 3 and 4).  Feel free to stop by if you need to drop off paperwork, or even just to say hello!     



Staff will begin participating in Project SMILE as a part of the Math and Science Partnership Program Grant that All Saints is partnering with Indian Prairie 204 and West Aurora 129 school districts.  Teachers will also be reviewing, articulating and aligning our math and language arts curriculum between grade levels.  Office staff will be preparing our summer mailing which will be sent to all school families via the USPS in June, as well as receiving and trransferring records.  Summer cleaning, painting and maintenance will be going on in addition to work on our brand new Health Office.  I will be working on our State of the School Address which will be communicated to all school families at Curriculum Night in August.     


It has been a tremendous first year at All Saints Catholic Academy for me and for my family.  I am grateful for the opportunity that I have had to work with such a wonderful staff, and to serve all of you - our students and school families.   At this time of year, it is not easy to say goodbye to some of our All Saints family who are moving on.  Maria Ross (3B) will be retiring and leaving us for sunny California.  Dennis Steibel, our building engineer, is also retiring having been at All Saints since the beginning.  The following teachers are leaving us for new and exciting career opportunities:  Mary Carol Dudzinski (one of our founding preschool teachers), Lisa Gapen (also a founding preschool teacher), Valerie Holm (4C), Kim McArthrur (JH Science), Jacqui Snyder (Resource), Linda Spitz (Preschool), and Dee Wiedeman (JH Religion).  We are thankful for all of the gifts and love that they shared with our students, and the years of service they gave to the All Saints Catholic Academy school community. We wish them well.   


Our Growing Saints Preschool Program will be getting a whole new look.  We are excited about the All Saints preschool program changes that include Spanish language instruction, specials programming, and curricular changes that include the introduction of Everyday Mathmatics (University of Chicago) and the Wonders (McGraw Hill) language arts curriculums that our kindergarten through grade 4 students already enjoy.

School Supply Lists

School Supply Kit ordering information was sent home last week with oldest and only students.  Online ordering will be open from now through Friday, June 16, so do not delay in placing your order.  Please click here for School Supply Kit ordering information. The ordering of supply kits is optional.  To see a list of the Kindergarten through Grade 8 supplies, please click here.  Please note that supplies lists are compiled with brands that are carried at Staples stores.  You are welcome to purchase other brands that are comparable.  Note also that preschool supply lists will be added next week.  We will notify families once these lists are available. 


Create a Family Legacy at ASCA – Sponsor a Paver Brick for the St. Therese, The Little Flower, Graduate Plaza - Friday, June 2 Last Day to Purchase

Tomorrow is the last day to purchase a Paver Brick to commemorate your child’s years at ASCA, or honor a special student, First Communion, graduation, teacher or coach!  This is also a great way to memorialize a loved one, or to celebrate a birthday or anniversary with a gift that will last a lifetime.  The sponsorship of a Brick costs $175 for 6” x 6”, $250 for 6” x 12”, or $500 for 12” x 12”.  Also, there are many religious and other icons available to enrich the message and appearance of paver bricks.  Click here to view the icons.

All are welcome to participate in SHPP.  It is a great way to meet other parents, and to give back to the school and our students in a huge way.  A Volunteer Guide will be sent to all school families in the June mailing.  All school parents will be encourged to participate.  


End of the Year Medication Pick Up 

Please pick up any medication that has been kept in the Health Office by Friday, June 2nd.   Medications WILL BE DISPOSED OF after that date, unless prior arrangements have been made.  Please contact the school office with any questions or concerns.  


2017-2018 School Year News

Thank you to all of the families who responded with a resounding 'Yes' that you will be returning to ASCA for the 2017-2018 school year.  We will begin activating FACTS agreements this coming week for the coming school year, loading tuition and fees.  Note that all student fees are non-refundable. Any exception to the All Saints fee refund policy must be an extraordinary circumstance that will be evaluated on a case by case basis, and must be presented in writing to the School Principal and the Pastoral President.

There will be a summer mailing sent to all families with other important information that traditionally was part of the Fees and Forms packets in June. 


Our Back to School mailing with classroom assignments will be done electronically this summer prior to our Meet and Greet in August.  Please make sure that you contact the office from now through August with any changes or updates to your personal information (home address, phone numbers and email addresses).

Devotional Program Survey

The CSO (Catholic Schools Office) is surveying parents, teachers, administrators, and students regarding the many devotional programs that have been offered in the schools. Financial Aid awards are being finalized, and will be communicated to families once they have been completed.  


Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Literacy Fund Glow Run

You may have seen the Glow Run signs popping up around town.  You dont want to miss out on this family oriented event!  All Saints Catholic Academy was selected to receive a very generous literacy grant for the fifth consecutive year by the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Literacy fund!  It is a highly energized night that includes fun activities and entertainment while simultaneously promoting reading.  Our grant entitled, Everyone Reads!  Propelling Students' Reading Skills Forward will have a positive impact on our entire student body through staff professional development in literacy and related reading materials.  This event is not just for runners, Some of our teachers - Margaret Bergquist, Megan Barnhart, Emily Morris and Jacqui Snyder - will be in attendance running or walking.  So, come join us for the grant award ceremony by 7:25 pm on Saturday, June 3rd and support this great cause!  Go to to find out more about the event, or to register.  This has been a popular and sold out event in years past, so don't procrastinate!


Saints Helping Saints

Second Annual Stinky Shoe Drive

The Cadette Girl Scouts want your tired, stinky sneakers!  Sarah, Elliana, & Isabella will keep them out of the landfill by delivering them to Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program in Aurora. Nike will de-stink-ify your sneakers, grind them up, and turn them into athletic and playground surfaces.  How cool is that!  Give us the sneakers from your school locker and even others from your siblings, parents, and grandparents!  But, before you donate anyone’s shoes to the boxes near the locker bays or your classroom, ask your mom or dad! Your contribution will help Cadette Troop 51102 care for God’s creation and reduce your carbon footprint.

School Shoe Purchase to Help ASCA

Gotskind's Shoes and Clothing in downtown Naperville (115 W. Jefferson, Naperville - 630-355-1811) will donate 5% of the price of any uniform shoes or gym shoes that you purchase until August 31, 2017 to ASCA.  Just let them know that you are an All Saints school family.  


Saints in the Summer

ACSA Summer Art Camp - NEW

For students Entering 4th Grade to Graduating 8th Graders for school year 2017-2018 (Or Pre-Approved, Artists Younger than 4th Grade)

When:  Monday, June 26 through Friday, June 30 from 12:30-2:30 pm

(Mrs. Wojcik will be available to supervise lunch in the school cafeteria for any students, with written permission, to stay at school after Mr. Busche’s Spirit Camp)

Where: ASCA Art Room

Cost: $100 for ASCA Students ($5 Discount for Siblings); $120 for Non- ASCA Students

All Students must complete the following:  Art Camp Registration Form and Hold Harmless/ Indemnity Agreement.  

This price includes Art Camp Time and ASCA Art Room Supplies Fee  (If there are materials that we do not have in the Art room, students are welcome to purchase those products and bring them to the first day of camp.)

Physical Education Spirit Camp at ASCA

All Saints Catholic Academy is excited to offer an opportunity to continue the fun from PE combined with a touch of grace for K-5 students. Under the instruction of Mr. Justin Busche, students will get the opportunity to enhance their learning of popular sports, fun activities and increased fitness with a focus on a Biblical theme each day.  Think of it as one part Vacation Bible School, one part Fitness, one part Sports, and ten parts cool, all mixed in a blender for a week’s worth of FUN!!!  

Who:      Incoming Kindergarten – 5th grade students  

What:     Focus will be on a different activity each day 

When:    Monday, June 5th – Friday, June 9th                 and/or             Monday, June 26th – Friday, June 30th 

Time:     K-2:  8:45 AM – 10:15 AM             3-5:  10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
