Preschool Academy

Our preschool program begins with the introduction of Jesus as our friend. This continues to be the foundation on which our program, as well as our entire school, is built. Our curriculum is designed to create and maintain a healthy balance between academic achievements and social development. Through positive reinforcement, attentive nurturing and strong parent/teacher communications, our students exit preschool with a strong faith base and an enthusiasm for learning. Upon completion of preschool, our students are well prepared to meet the academic rigors of the Primary Academy.

Religion

  • The Seeds publication is used as an introduction to the weekly Gospel reading.
  • Children participate in daily prayer, faith based activities and seasonal projects.
  • Children develop a sense of community service and pride by participating in activities that teach children to give to others.

Math

  • Curriculum is supported by an introductory Everyday Mathematics program, which is also used in the Primary, Intermediate and Junior High Academies.
  • Beginning mathematic concepts are incorporated throughout the preschool curriculum.
  • Introductory concepts such as number identification, one-to-one correspondence, patterning and graphing are presented on an ongoing basis.

Language Arts

  • Our pre-reading program is centered around the identification and phonemic awareness of each letter.
  • The pre-writing program is centered around beginning letter formation and the development of fine motor skills.
  • Language arts concepts, such as opposites, rhyming words and following stepped directions are continually introduced.
